2024 Buick Envision Review: Prices, Specs, and Photos

What kind of vehicle is the 2024 Buick Envision? What does it compare to?

The 2024 Buick Envision is a compact crossover competing in the premium segment alongside the Lexus NX, Lincoln Corsair, and Acura RDX.

Is the 2024 Buick Envision a good SUV?

The redesigned 2024 Buick Envision excels on style, standard safety technology, and a roomy cabin, but there are no electrified powertrain options and the IIHS and the NHTSA haven’t completed crash testing on the new model. That caps its TCC Rating at 6.8 out of 10. (Read more about how we rate cars.)

What’s new for the 2024 Buick Envision?

Buick equips the 2024 Envision better than in years past, and it ditches the mid-grade Essence trim. All-wheel drive now comes standard on Preferred, ST, and Avenir trims, and Buick loads up the Envision with more standard driver-assist features than most rivals.

The Envision sports freshened ends with slim daytime running lights winking over a wide grille that’s flanked by vertical headlights. The curved ends and sculpted sides combine for an elegant but understated profile rolling on 20-inch alloy wheels on all but the base model. The interior showcases the biggest changes, with a 30-inch display housing both the digital instrument cluster and touchscreen. The clean, spare dash is complemented by an equally uncluttered console. Chrome-like trim as well as available leather upholstery uphold its premium status.

The 228-hp 2.0-liter turbo-4 carries over with a 9-speed automatic transmission, but Buick now equips each model with all-wheel drive. The turbo-4 provides pert power, but it and the 9-speed can become taxed under a heavy foot or when carrying a full load. Drive modes such as Sport and Off-Road are more a suggestion than a dialing up or doling out of power, but the Envision rides calmly and quietly under most scenarios.

That should benefit passengers in all five seats, but we’d only use the middle seat for short distances or short people. Rear legroom measures nearly 40 inches, and the cargo hold can easily lug enough gear for a busy family weekend or a long getaway for two couples.

A welcome change to the 2024 model is a loaded suite of driver-assist technology. Buick equips every Envision with everything from adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking with cyclist detection to a surround-view camera system. It hasn’t been tested by the IIHS, but the NHTSA gave its related predecessor a five-star crash rating.

How much does the 2024 Buick Envision cost?

The 2024 Buick Envision costs $38,690, including a $1,395 destination fee, for the base Preferred model. Standard features include 18-inch alloy wheels, all-wheel drive, the 30-inch display that includes both a digital gauge cluster and an 11.0-inch touchscreen, as well as 9-speaker Bose audio and a head-up display.

The ST model costs $41,190 and adds 20-inch alloys and a flat-bottomed steering wheel, while the loaded Avenir tops the lineup at $49,790.

Where is the 2024 Buick Envision made?

It’s imported from China.
