March 2024 Corvette Production Update

Since we are close to the end of the month while also in the middle of a Corvette order cycle, I thought I would provide a quick Corvette production update for March 2024.

Last week, dealers received another round of allocation numbers for the Stingray and Z06 and we were expecting to see the constraint reports today in advance of the order banks opening. But as GM have done previously around holidays, the order cycle will be delayed one week as tomorrow is Good Friday and some others may have Monday off in observance of Easter Monday. We are now expecting the ordering for last week’s allocations to begin on Thursday, April 4th with the latest constraints coming that morning as well.

Taking a look at the VIN counts throaugh Wednesday thanks to Roger Kiel’s unofficial production tracker on Facebook, we are seeing the total 2024 Model Year production standing at 23,006 combined units.

Looking at the Stingrays, we really could use some help here from the E-Rays to start to cut in the car’s production totals. The dealership lists for Stingray are mostly exhausted, and we’ve been hearing that some smaller dealers are now rejecting additional allocations. Meanwhile, dealer stock inventory at the larger dealerships is increasing and discounts are now becoming the norm. We started the month with VIN 15,126 and yesterday we ended at 17,888 for a total of 2,762 Stingrays produced so far in the month with just Thursday’s production still to count. I do believe that the Assembly Plant will be closed tomorrow for Good Friday.

For Z06, we started the month at VIN 4,112 and yesterday we hit 4,906 for a total of 794 so far for March. We’ll hit the 5,000th unit milestone for the model year probably early next week depending on the totals.

And finally, the E-Ray is still in the ramp up phase, which frankly I’m very much bored with and I think many others are as well. However, a friend of ours had a conversation with a high-level GM’mer about the E-Ray recently and he says everything is still on track, and that there is a method to that madness, which again I find maddening, but we’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. For the month, we started at VIN 134 and yesterday’s report shows five E-Rays built for a total of 212. That’s only 78 built for the month, and like I said, we really want to see this in-demand car to start cutting into the Stingray’s production totals.

We’ve been wondering when any additional E-Ray allocations are going to come, and I read an interesting analysis of the E-Ray’s first allocations over on the MidEngine Corvette Forum. Based on big three dealer’s E-Ray allocations (MacMulkin, Ciocca, and Criswell) representing around 9% or so of those first allocations, and MacMulkin saying that they’ve received 24 so far, its estimated that the first round of E-Ray allocations probably totaled around 450 units. As Chevrolet has built just over 200 of them so far, that still leaves another 250 previously allocated cars to be completed.

That’s all I’ve got for now! Have a great weekend, Corvette Nation!
