When the C8 Corvette Z06 first started hitting the streets and looking for competition, the place to go was the local drag strip, despite the fact that the car was really designed for being a track weapon. Even Corvette’s Executive Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter was a little surprised with all the drag racing that was going on and he commented on it once, saying the car wasn’t really designed to be a “numbers” car.
But drag racing is a fun way to burn rubber and gas, and the Corvette Z06 with its super sticky Michelin Cup2 Rs, launch control, and the ability to rev it up to 8600 RPM gives it an advantage that few other production cars you normally see at the drag strip.
YouTuber Dr Horsepower has a treat for us today as he meets up with a bone-stock 2024 Corvette Z06 at the drag strip. However this time the Z06 is meeting a car specifically built for the drag strip – a 2023 Dodge Charger Hellcat Jailbreak Edition rocking 807 horsepower.
